Tropical Western Pacific/ARM Mobile Facility Climate Research Sites
Before Leaving for AMF Germany Site:
  1. Submit a visit request via the ARM Site Access Request System.
  2. Read AMF Germany Site Safety Plan.
Site Rules:
  1. Prior to your first physical visit to the AMF site, call on-site technician at +49 (0) 151-5217-3772 to schedule a time to meet on site. (Note: No need to dial "+49 (0)" while in Germany)
  2. On your first day on site, re-read AMF Germany Site Safety Plan and sign in acknowledging that you have read and agree to comply with the Safety Plan.
  3. Do not work at the AMF site alone - adhere to the "Two-Man Rule."
Hazard Control:
  1. Refer to AMF Germany Site Safety Plan for hazard control guidelines.
  2. Analyze any possible hazards before starting any work.
  3. Plan for the hazards.
  4. Stop work if there are any concerns for ES&H incidents.
Potential Hazards:
  1. Micropulse Lidar (MPL) is a Class 1 laser instrument.
  2. Pressurized gasses:
  3. Gasoline (petrol) shall be stored in proper containers.
  4. Stairs are on site for the instrument platforms - use them instead of ladders when possible.
  5. Thunderstorms and lightning.
  6. Refer to AMF Germany Site Safety Plan for a complete list of potential hazards at the AMF site.
Safety Equipment at Site:
  1. Emergency contact phone numbers posted in each van.
  2. AMF Site Safety Plan in A2 Van.
  3. Fire extinguisher in each van.
  4. First-aid kit, defibrillator in A2 Van.
  5. Safety glasses, gloves in M1 Van.
  6. Dollies, rolling carts for boxes and gas cylinders available.
  7. Ear protection available in A3 Van.
Local Transportation:
  1. Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation.
